“One of the best interview shows on television today” gushes Ed Robertson, Pop Culture Critic and Television Historian, about Inside the Actors Studio in a recent post on popular blog The Book’s Den – but what exactly is it? And where can one catch a glimpse of the popular programme?

Well the good news for any interested parties, who may have heard tell of the show or enjoy watching intimate interviews with Hollywood’s glittering A-list, is that Sky Arts will be showing selected interviews from the long-established American series, throughout January at 9pm sharp.

Presented by the charismatic author and actor, James Lipton, the very special guests are subjected to a probing interview, before the floor is opened to an audience of drama students to pose their own teasers to the stars. Noted for frequently extracting shocking confessions from his guests - Jack Lemmon famously revealed his alcoholism on the show - Lipton also asks each guest a revealing ten-point questionnaire. Tomorrow’s special guest is a real treat for all 24 fans – as all action hero Keifer Sutherland takes the chair.
